Speaker 1: [00:00:00] Hello, my name is Gerry Gerritsen from Tabea at Law. I will be speaking about the diversity visa, which includes the diversity lottery. And before I do that, it’s go and read this here. And God bless them saying be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let foul multiply in the Earth. So there’s several ways to get a visa to. Well, specifically, of course, against the two main areas to get the nonimmigrant visas where folks have the intent of coming here temporarily. And then you have the permanent visas where the opposite people are coming here to be to stay, to be here on a permanent basis. And so we’re talking about the green card. I regard as a euphemism or the LP are the legal permanent resident and. The car is actually green sometime every year, for the most part. Kind of like a pass for a kind of like a driver’s license. And so that allows of folks to stay here for 10 years and they can get extensions on that. Then they have certain rights. It’s not a full blown citizenship, but it’s a permanent residence. And so it’s much sought after. You see, the most common route is a family based where you have family members that you can bring in. Family members of a U.S., a United States citizen or a green card holder can bring in relatives and members of their family and friends, family based. And you have an employment base where folks can come in through their job. They can be sponsored by their employer. And this is where you get into the perm you get into where, yes, you can bring your employees over here. However, they cannot take the job of an American citizen, somebody who’s already here. And not only that, but they can’t lower or they can’t come in in such a way and be paid in such a way that they’re going to be lowering the wage, the prevailing wage of the current workers or having some kind of their various effects on their wages. So that’s employment based, which is a big field in itself. Then you have, of course, asylum. Those folks are being persecuted in other countries and certain, of course, a whole body of law around asylum law. Then you have the EB five, which is partly I mean, it’s part of the it’s a connection. It’s connected to the employment based, but it’s more commonly referred to as the golden parachute, where folks that have half a million dollars or a million dollars to invest in this country and start a business can have a path to get the green card. So that’s that’s another way. And of course, we also have this the diversity visa. What this is, it’s it’s a special set aside every year 50000 people that can come over here from because they had to come from a country that qualifies and the country is going to be one that has a limited amount of people that come here. So if it’s a larger countries that have, well, let’s say this, the. Countries that have a good amount of people migrating to this country will not qualify, so these are countries that you rarely see people come to this country from there. And so those countries do qualify and then those parties are interested in coming here. What they do is they enter into a lottery and all the names are taken and they put their put into a computer and a computer selects names by random. And when it gets to 50000, it is done per year and it sends out notices to those that were selected in the process continues. So that’s the diverse, very sorry, the diversity diversity visa. And the idea is that this our country likes diversity we like. I mean, we are a diverse country. We are we are a land of many nations, right? Many people just say. And so we believe that there’s value in that. And so we welcome immigration to this day, of course. And but we want to make sure that we’re getting immigration. We’re getting folks from all around the world, even those that don’t generally have migrants or send migrants. And so we want we want people from everywhere. And that’s that’s that’s where the diversity lottery camps our visa comes via the lottery. And once they’re picked, they come over here and there. There’s a couple more hurdles to jump. But generally, if they’re selected, they’re going to get into this country. And so we have folks that otherwise wouldn’t get in and out, but they are selected. They come in. Dann haben Sie die EB Five, was teilweise ich meine, es ist Teil der Verbindung.
