Speaker 1: [00:00:00] Hello, my name’s name’s Jerry Gerritsen, Tabea Law, a last week I had read this real quick. And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the Earth. I want to talk about the politics of immigration law. And as a lawyer, I enjoy the black letter law. I enjoy just the study and the inherent nature of law and the origins of law. I don’t so much like the politics of law in, but that’s just part of it. And in immigration law, you do have. Two poles or two poles of thought. And again, our country is a country of immigrants. We don’t have this is not France or Germany or England, where you have the native people of England or France or Germany. This is in the country just kind of grew from there. This is different. Obviously, we come from all parts of the world and we settled here and developed the country. And so the idea is our immigration laws span from the idea of wanting to be inviting of others in this world. So being open to to folks coming in just like we came in as immigrants and this got well built this country, United States of America. At the other end, it’s the idea of sovereignty. And how many folks do you let in before the country isn’t really a country anymore? Right? It’s and it’s not just the United States. This has been the history of mankind throughout the ages. You want to have if you have a country, you’re going to want to have people in that country that have common belief in common ideas about what the country should be and should do. And if you have competing interests, you, if those interests start strong enough, then you’re going to have a lot of infighting and you can lose your country. An example is the Soviet Union, right? And I don’t know if it was immigration as other other aspects there, but you had enough people in the Soviet Union that that decided in the 1990s that we don’t want this government no more. We want freedom. We want opportunity. And a lot of a lot of that had to do with, ah, the Cold War and the competition with the United States, and I think in the 80s and 90s, the Russians that just the folks the commoners right began to see through TV or whatever video technology that the Americans are wealthy folks or get them out of them. And in most Russians are not, except for the people in power. And they don’t want that anymore. And so the Soviet Union ended in the 1990s. And so you have a different regime in there now. So that’s a little bit different than what I’m talking about here. It’s if you allow a good amount of people into this country that don’t have the same beliefs as what’s in our constitution and what this country has traditionally believed in freedom and capitalism and. I’m a Christian history. If you get too many folks here that differ with that or they want to change that or don’t agree and or even worse than that, they have their first allegiance to a foreign country. But they’re here, right? It’s not good. So that’s how governments get overturned. That’s how states fail. And we don’t want that. We want it. We want to be a strong, powerful, wealthy, happy country. And so there’s a give and take with immigration, where the laws are changed or created immigration laws to allow more or less people in. And it depends who’s in office at that time. And I’m not going to get political right now, but the idea is that. Politics has a lot to do with immigration law, and the things can be changed where a lot of people can come in or things could be laws can be changed or enacted to allow less people to come in. Am anderen Ende ist es die Idee der Souveränität. Und wie viele Leute lässt man rein, bevor das Land nicht mehr wirklich ein Land ist? Richtig? Es sind und nicht nur die Vereinigten Staaten. Dies war die Geschichte der Menschheit im Laufe der Jahrhunderte. Wenn Sie ein Land haben, möchten Sie Menschen in diesem Land haben, die allgemein an gemeinsame Vorstellungen davon glauben, was das Land sein sollte und tun sollte. Es ist, wenn Sie eine gute Anzahl von Menschen in dieses Land lassen, die nicht die gleichen Überzeugungen haben wie in unserer Verfassung und was dieses Land traditionell an Freiheit und Kapitalismus geglaubt hat. Ich bin eine christliche Geschichte. Wenn Sie hier zu viele Leute haben, die sich davon unterscheiden, oder sie das ändern wollen oder nicht zustimmen und oder noch schlimmer, haben sie ihre erste Treue zu einem fremden Land. Aber sie sind hier, oder? Es ist nicht gut. So werden Regierungen umgeworfen. So scheitern Staaten. Und das wollen wir nicht. Wir wollen es. Wir wollen ein starkes, mächtiges, wohlhabendes und glückliches Land sein. Und so gibt es ein Geben und Nehmen bei der Einwanderung, bei der die Gesetze geändert oder Einwanderungsgesetze geschaffen werden, um mehr oder weniger Menschen die Einreise zu ermöglichen. Und es hängt davon ab, wer zu diesem Zeitpunkt im Amt ist. Und ich werde jetzt nicht politisch werden, aber die Idee ist das. Politik hat viel mit Einwanderungsrecht zu tun, und die Dinge können geändert werden, wo viele Menschen hereinkommen können oder Gesetze geändert oder erlassen werden können, damit weniger Menschen hereinkommen können.
